The question often comes up, “Who are good candidates for financial advisory services?”

Let’s start with clients who are NOT good candidates for financial advisory services:

  1. Business owners who operate their business from their checkbooks.
  2. Business owners who NEVER ask you questions
  3. Business owners who don’t care and never look at what you send them

In my experience, these clients are the best candidates:

  1. Businesses who want to grow profitably.
  2. Businesses who want to grow wealth.
  3. Rapidly growing businesses.
  4. Businesses whose long term goal is to sell the business.

There is a difference between rapidly growing businesses and businesses who want to grow profitably and build wealth.  Of course, all businesses want to do these three things.  Many want to grow slowly.  Others are growing 20%, 50%, or more a year.

Finally, do they indicate they are looking for help?

Sometimes they ask you.  The question could be, “I’m not making any money.  What should I do?”  This is the perfect question to lead them into your financial advisory services.
